Linda Buchner talks on how project based learning is the future of education.
Podcaster and education innovator Linda Buchner talks with host Marc Winn about how project based learning is the future of education. What does the future of education look like? What are the simple things that can revolutionise the education system? Will we need exams any more? What are kids truly capable of? All this and more in this uplifting fly on the wall conversation about the future for our children.
The biggest issue i have with the States debate and the public debate that has gone on around it are that all we have been discussing is how we choose which school our children go to.
I haven’t heard one person suggesting that what we really need to be doing is discussing is how kids of taught in those schools.
I’ve looked at models like Montessori, Steiner Waldorf through to the new forms of mastery based learning such as khan lab school and if i had the opportunity I would must prefer to send me children to a school based on this type of option (local Montessori is much too expensive and limited).
Guernsey would be a great location to try something new in education, how do we make it happen.
Good stuff both of you.
From ≈31:30 you are talking about bringing disparate groups of people together and …putting them in the same room together to see what happens… collaborating etc.
This has been my motivation over the last 4 years with Nerd Nights(nerdnights.net) — now merged with Beer Code Design(beercodedesign.com) to form Lightbulb Nights(lightbulb.gg).
I’m very interested to bring people together from different walks of life, share what’s important to us and find the overlaps and the leg-ups that can come from a diverse community. We host two or three short talks with Q/A, a ’roundup’ of what’s new and interesting in the world and ‘shout-out’ sections where anyone can briefly share or request help.
Marc, please do come along. The more diverse it becomes the better!
